I'm Yana
(Well, that's my nickname. My birth name is Ykje, but that’s abracadabra outside Friesland, the Netherlands, where I'm originally from. 🙂)
I help betrayed and traumatized people sleep, using science-based tools to create the three ingredients of deep, restorative rest: sleep-boosting surroundings, helpful habits and, most importantly, calming thoughts.
My own struggle with insomnia began during a painful divorce, back in 2015, with a newborn in my arms and a toddler at my side.
It was a very difficult period, but with support, research-backed strategies and mindful experimentation, I lowered my stress, improved my sleep and grew more resilient than ever. 🌈
For the past decade I've been sharing these tools, through my articles and columns as a newspaper journalist, my 'Healthy Habits Journal' in Dutch (Gouden Gewoontes Journal), and more recently as a certified sleep coach in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I).
